Sophie Akkermans
PhD candidate, Nijmegen
As a PhD-student in cognitive neuroscience, she studies the brain mechanisms underlying impulsive and compulsive symptoms in developmental disorders such as autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and ADHD, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods.
She further likes to contribute to sparking children’s interest in science and the brain, which led to her involvement in the OCEANA program.
As a team member working on the Donders Teaching Kit her main role is that of editor, in which she continuously strives for improvement of the kit’s content.
